The real taste of cacao

What is Apapacho?

In Náhuatl, an indigenous language in Mexico, apapacho means "a hug that reaches the soul". It's care that you can feel.

That is what we pour into every cup. Not a seasonal treat. Not a wellness trend. Just real cacao, grown in Tabasco, crafted in Mexico City.

Made for that moment you give yourself everyday.

A real Apapacho - Couple hugging each other
A cup of spiced Mexican hot chocolate surrounded by raw cacao beans, rosemary, and dried chilies on a wooden surface.

Grown in Mexico. Made at origin.

Our cacao grows in agroforestry systems in the Chontalpa region, Tabasco. It's tended by smallholder farming families who have cultivated this land for generations. It is fermented and sun-dried at origin, then stone-ground by Fausto Reyes at Diaspora in Mexico City. Tasting notes: caramel and butter.

By staying close to origin in sourcing, in processing, and in the people behind it, most of the value stays where the cacao grows. Our core team is split between Rotterdam and Mexico City.
